Canora Gateway Coop continues to “Pay it Forward”

The Canora Gateway Coop is an organization that is constantly giving back to the community in more ways than one.  The Gateway Coop invests in the communities they serve and are often found to be a proud supporter of local community groups through regular charity barbecues, donations and more.

During the Aviva Community Fund Competition, the local Coop Service Station showed their support through signage encouraging people to vote for the Chase Kraynick “Pay it Forward” Splash Park.  Thank you to Tracy Brice, Service station Manager and her staff for setting up this sign!

2012 also happens to be the international year of the cooperatives so the Canora Board of Directors wanted to do a special fundraiser for a local interest group.  They decided to show their support for the Chase Kraynick “Pay it Forward” Splash park this time.

Coop Manager Dana Antonovitch, stated that October 14-20, 2012 was designated as Coop week and they thought it would be the perfect time to host a BBQ fundraiser for the splash park at the grocery store.  Local coop delegates, staff and management organized the event and involved representatives from the Canora Junior Elementary School.

Patty Jo Donovan (student support teacher) and 3 students from the Canora Junior Elementary School (Ellie Tomcala, Carter Dereniwsky and Kiesha Kaiser) came to help with the serving of hamburgers and drinks for the day.  After serving over 200 people over the lunch, a whopping $658.00 was raised!

We want to say a special thank you to the local coop for organizing this event and all the volunteers from the Elementary School for working at this fundraiser.  Our family feels blessed to be part of this terrific community and is grateful for all the people who continue to show their support for the splash park.  You are all amazing!
