Thankful Thursday – Royal Honda Makes A Difference

Honda Cheque
Terry Ortynsky and Lynn Walker from Royal Honda presenting a cheque to the Chase Kraynick Pay it Forward Splash Park

How do you define the Honda difference? Is it dependability? Quality?  Reliability? Or all those hard working employees in Yorkton that make a difference in the communities they live in?????  Well, it’s all of those things, and so much more!!!!

Yorkton’s Royal Honda wanted to find a way to “Pay it Forward” and support the Chase Kraynick Splash Park in Canora.  So they decided to advertise a “Pay it Forward” car sale and donate $100.00 from every new and used vehicle sold in the month of January to this project.

Every owner of a new and used vehicle received one of Chase’s Pay it Forward Cards and were asked to do a random act of kindness or generosity for someone else.  In turn, the dealership promised to work hard to sell as many cars in the month of January.  On February 22, 2013 the management and staff presented us with a cheque for $1500.00!!!  HOW FANTASTIC IS THAT???

We are so very thankful for their generosity and want to sincerely thank all their hard working staff for each and every sale made!  Our family is so grateful to the entire for deciding to support the concept that Chase so deeply believed in and for making a difference in our community.  With our deepest and most heartfelt appreciation…Thank you!

Yorkton Farm Toy Auction

Toy AuctionAl and Jeff Kuntz of Jakz Farm Toys organized the first exclusively farm toy auction to be held in conjunction with the Yorkton Toy and Collectible show.  The event was held on February 8th at the Legion Hall in Yorkton, just prior to the Farm Toy and Collectible Show.  The auction featured 221 lots of farm toys from 25 consignors from across the three Prairie Provinces and North Dakota.

The Kuntz brothers said they organized the sale, “because we love the hobby and wanted to promote it.” “We’re not doing it to make money,” Kuntz said, but added breaking even was a goal to make it viable to undertake the sale next year.

In addition to the sale, the Kuntz’s wanted to auction off a toy tractor in order to donate the proceeds to the Chase Kraynick Pay it Forward Splash Park.  They decided to donate a 1:32 scale Stieger 4WD Tractor to be auctioned off.  One of the bidders in the crowd was Stieger TractorMichael Glaicar, a producer from Waldron, Saskatchewan.  Michael continued to bid on the model tractor until he bought it for $500.00!!!  However, Michael’s generosity did not stop there.  Instead of paying $500.00 for the model tractor, he decided to write a cheque for an even $1000.00!!!! WOW!!!  We are so thankful to the Kuntz’s for their act of kindness in even considering raising money for Canora’s Splash Park but also for Michael’s overwhelming generosity.  We are very thankful to both parties so please know that you made a difference for our community, just like Chase made a difference in the lives of many.

Thank you!

Pay It Forward Friday Pays Off For Canora Union Hospital

It feels like the entire community of Canora has thought about the whole “Pay it Forward” concept and people have been trying to find ways to show their kindness and generosity towards one another.  The staff at the Canora Union Hospital is no exception either!  In fact, they decided to take it a step further and promote kindness and generosity in the workplace.  Early on in September we told you about their campaign to rally support for the Splash Park, the AVIVA competition, and to make casual Friday’s a bit more exciting.

The “Have Fun at Work Committee” at the hospital decided to order T-Shirts for the staff to wear which promoted the “Pay it Forward” concept among the general public.  They ordered blue T-Shirts which read “Chase Made A Difference…Will You?” on the front, while the back of their T-Shirts read…“Pay it Forward.”  As Chase’s mother, I was very touched, as was our entire family by this demonstration of support by all the workers.

Since then, every Friday has been designated as a “dress down day”, so any staff that wanted to dress down, would wear their “Pay it forward” T-Shirt and contribute $2.00 to a jar.   All proceeds from the collection jar would be donated to the Splash Park.

In January, the Have Fun at Work Committee at the Hospital counted the money in that jar and have donated a whopping $647.00 to the Pay it Forward Splash Park!!!!

Thank you to all the workers for promoting this concept and for encouraging one another to think about how we can make difference in each other’s lives!   We truly appreciate all of our health care workers for the wonderful job you do on a daily basis and now also for your demonstration of support.  This really speaks to what it means to be part of a community in the way you support, encourage and uplift one another and those around you! You truly are role models in our community and we sincerely thank you all for making a difference.

Thankful Thursday – Lia Sophia For The Park

What makes someone a terrific sales person? Well … my answer would be:

  1. They need to have great “people” skills or customer service skills,
  2. They understand the product their selling (and believe in it),  but most of all
  3. They need to show they care!

So, if I were to nominate an individual in this category, it would be none other than Candace Ochitwa!  Candace is a Lia Sophia advisor based out of Warmen, SK.

Candace loves people and of course jewelry!  She decided to host a Lia Sophia party in Yorkton on December 5, 2012 as a fundraiser for the Chase Kraynick “Pay it Forward” Splash Park.  Unfortunately, that night turned out to be one of the most blustery and stormy nights in Saskatchewan. None the less, Candace continued on with the night and did a “bling up job” of showcasing what Lia Sophia offered!  Jewelery CHest

It was the ONLY jewelry party that I’ve ever been to that had EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF JEWELRY THEY SOLD … ON DISPLAY!!!!   She took the initiative to not only help organize a party but she decided to donate all her commission to the Chase Kraynick “Pay it Forward” Splash park! It didn’t stop there either…

Candace raffled off 5 door prizes for all who attended, which included two beautiful stand up jewelry boxes with mirrors, a Keurig coffee maker, a jewelry stand and a luggage bag.

The entire evening brought in just under $2500 for the Chase Kraynick Pay it Forward Splash Park!!!  How incredible is that??

Candace was also gracious enough to make us coffee mugs, fridge magnets and a huge canvas banner advertising the Pay it Forward Park!

Thank you so much for all the effort you put into the fundraiser and your immense generosity!  You are an amazing woman and we are so thankful for all your efforts in supporting the splash park!

Forget Me Not

ForgetMeNotLast fall we were given a lemon tree that was potted with other varieties of flowers including bleeding hearts, paper whites and forget-me-nots!  We received this gift from a family that experienced the loss of their child.  This mother explained that life will throw us lemons, but we need to remember to make lemonade.  The bleeding hearts represent the feelings we have been experiencing, the paper whites represent the innocence of our children and the forget-me-nots are self-explanatory.  I loved the entire gift from this family because it represents what we are going through but it also serves as a reminder to treasure every moment and make the most of each day!

ChasecooperAs Valentine’s Day approached, I was busy helping Cooper pick out special cards and treats for his friends at daycare and nursery school.  Since Valentine’s Day is a day of love, I couldn’t help but think of Chase and the forget me nots!  The forget me nots symbolize true love and the pain of parting.  I know that although we are not together here on earth, our love for Chase will never end.  So as we celebrate the love for those we have here, we are also going to celebrate the love we have for those that aren’t…because we have forgot you not… and never will!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all the love’s in my life!
