Chase Made A Difference … And You Can Too!!

4 VOLUNTEER Electricians Hook up the Splashers!!!

Kyle and Roxy Roberts (Journeyman Electricans), Matt Sleeva (fourth year apprentice electrician), and Brody Steciuk (first year apprentice electrician) worked tirelessly on Friday July 5th to finish the electrical hookups for the Splash Park.  All four electricians work for Gabora Electric BUT took a day off work to donate their time, talents and expertise as their individual contribution to the Park!  Talk about Paying it Forward!!!!  We are so grateful for each one of you and want to sincerely thank you for making this tremendous contribution to our community!!!!

P1000356Each sprayer was hooked up to a timer which allows a sprayer to run for a set amount of time.  The park is equipped with 2 separate activators which require the children to hit the button to activate a sequence of sprayers.  These timers will allow us to set how long a sprayer will run as well as allow us to turn on and shut them off at a certain time of day.

These four individuals not only have inspired us to think of ways to give back using our own talents, time and energy, but have profoundly touched our hearts with their generosity.

We are truly thankful for their quality service and workmanship and we hope they know how much it means to our family and our community. Thank you for stepping forward and making a difference!

Up next we are ready to bring in the gravel and cement before the sprayers are turned on!!!  Stay tuned because we may need some volunteers to help spread the gravel.

Chase Made A Difference … and so did Roxy, Kyle, Matt and Brody!!!!

What will YOU do today??

June 19th Splash Park Update!!!

#2Well folks… Yorkton Plumbing and Heating wasted no time in getting involved with the Splash Park!  Not only were they one of the first businesses to step up to the plate, months ago, to “Pay it Forward” to Canora by volunteering their time and supplies for the project, but they were eager to get in and do their job this past week!  Curtis Krotenko and his family joined us on the AVIVA Float during the Winter Lights Festival in Canora and since Kurtis works at Yorkton Plumbing and Heating, he was sporting his AVIVA T-shirt on the worksite!!!  🙂 Gotta love that!

#1Here’s our progress update what what has been happening the past little while…

  • Nejah Building delivered the shed where the plumbing and electrical units will be housed.   The shed will be fully assembled and sided shortly.
  • Yorkton Plumbing and Heating started Monday and will be wrapped up this Wednesday morning (providing no rain comes our way)
  • We have ordered the picnic tables, benches, bike rack and a garbage can for the splash park
  • We are currently working on the signage for the park
  • Jerry Gabora with Gabora Electric has done his site inspection and is the next contractor to work at the site.  He is ready to go and we are excited to have his company be part of our project!
  • After the electrical is completed, the gravel will be brought in and that’s when we need all you volunteers to bring your shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes and muscles to help spread it all into place!!  (PLEASE STAY POSTED FOR THOSE DETAILS TO COME)

We are attempting to have everything in place for a MID-JULY GRAND OPENING!!!  So stay tuned!!  As soon as we make final arrangements for this special day, an official announcement will come out to you via this blog!!  We are so excited for that day to arrive, but in the meantime we would love to hear more of your Pay It Forward stories so that we can share them with others.  So . . . the questions of the day are … Did you find a way to pay it forward to today?  If so, what did you do?  How did your act of kindness affect that person?  How did your act of kindness make a difference?

Painted Hand CDC becomes a Major Sponsor of the Chase Kraynick “Pay it Forward” Splash Park

Painted HAndGiving back is an important part of First Nations culture. Throughout the year, the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) and its casinos support hundreds of organizations and events.  By embracing and implementing the teachings of their Elders, SIGA fosters its philanthropic commitment by giving back to its communities. SIGA is committed to build and enrich the communities in Saskatchewan so everyone can benefit.

SIGA also operates the Community Development Corporations (CDCs) which receives funding equivalent to 25% of the net profits of the on-reserve casinos.  Each Community Development Corporation gives 100% of its profits back to the people of Saskatchewan. They consider applications for funding from First Nations and non-First Nations organizations located in communities surrounding each casino for initiatives in the following areas: economic development, social development, justice initiatives, educational development, recreational facilities operation and development, senior and youth programs, cultural development, community infrastructure development and maintenance, health initiatives, and other charitable purposes.

This year we submitted an application for funding to the Painted Hand CDC and they have generously donated $25,000 to the Chase Kraynick Pay it Forward Splash Park!!!!!   We are so thankful for their generosity and hope that this park will remind others to find ways to Pay it Forward and make a difference in their community.

We sincerely thank the Painted Hand CDC for making a positive difference in our community!

The Components Have Arrived !!!

It was like an episode of “Shipping Wars” minus Roy “The Handyman”, The “Hotshot”Couple, or Jarret “The Rookie”.  The expensive shipment of Splash Park Components made the cross country trek from BC to Saskatchewan via tractor-trailer.

The sellers:  Water Play Solutions Corporation out of Kelowna, BC

The buyers:  The Chase Kraynick “Pay It Forward” Splash Park in Canora, SK

Kristen Gabora and Rachel Kraynick met the shipment first thing this past Monday morning and made a detailed inspection of all components before signing off “A OK” and giving a 5-star rating on the first shipment of the Chase Kraynick “Pay It Forward” Splash Park components.

The components that did arrive … did so without any hitch or hiccup.  All pieces were in one piece and are ready for installation.  There is still one more pallet of components that was left in Regina and those will be delivered some time this week.

We are so happy to finally have them here … to realize that we are just one step closer to making the park become reality.

We took a few pics to commemorate the event.  Take a sneak peek at the delivery.  Keep in mind that we can’t reveal too much just yet.  🙂  The pieces are wrapped in a protective padding … for now.

The components have arrived.
The components have arrived.  It took an entire semi truck to bring only the first load of components.
Randy and Kristen strike a plan of how we are going to unload them all safely!
